A Taste of My Lao Roots
One of our owner’s favorite parts of ZINI is sharing the stories behind the food why a dish was chosen, the memories connected to it, and why she wants to share it with our community.
When deciding how to kick off our new weekly ZINI Soup Series, there was one dish she kept coming back to: a family favorite, Kapoon (Rice Curry Noodle).
🍜 Kapoon (Rice Curry Noodle) is a traditional Lao red curry noodle soup made with tender chicken, rice noodles and a rich, aromatic coconut curry broth, served with fresh herbs and vegetables. For many Lao families, Kapoon is more than a bowl of noodles. It’s the kind of comforting dish shared around the table at family gatherings, celebrations and special occasions—and every family has its own way of making it.
That is exactly what we want this Soup Series to be about: food that tells a story.
And if you know our owner, you know she’s a foodie herself—so she wants to spoil you a little! This experience is her opportunity to introduce our community to the beautiful flavors, herbs and spices of Laos and, week after week, continue taking you somewhere new through food.
